Dayton, Ohio (May 8, 2020) — Woolpert achieved its highest ranking ever on the Engineering News-Record (ENR) Top Design Firms list for 2020, jumping to No. 72 after ranking 93rd last year. The firm’s highest position previously was No. 88 in 2008. Woolpert is the only architecture, engineering and geospatial (AEG) firm on the national industry list, which ranks companies according to revenue for design services performed in the previous year.
Woolpert President and CEO Scott Cattran said improving the firm’s ENR ranking has been a strategic objective since 2015, when the firm sat at its lowest ranking of 135. The firm’s design revenue for that ranking was $97 million, as compared to more than $225 million for 2019.
“In 2015, we launched our first five-year strategic plan, which included moving up this nationally recognized industry list,” Cattran said. “We finished that plan two years early and broke back into ENR’s top 100. Now we are operating under our 2018-2022 strategic plan, and our goal is to break into the top 50. This jump to No. 72 is a big stride toward that goal.”
Since December 2017, Woolpert has performed a minority recapitalization, implemented a corporate restructure to better align with client needs, augmented its strategic consulting capabilities to support all markets, and acquired three firms to strategically expand key services and grow internationally.
