Mary Wohnrade Joins Elite Global Group Recognized for Women Working in the UAS Marketplace

Broomfield, CO (August 29, 2017) Wohnrade Civil Engineers, Inc., a full-service engineering firm leading the way in both the development of precision aerial mapping, and incorporating Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) data into civil engineering design, announced today that its Principal Engineer and owner, Mary Wohnrade, P.E., has been selected as an honoree in the category of Champion in the inaugural Women to Watch in UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) Awards. The Awards, sponsored by Women and Drones and Drone360 Magazine, recognizes Wohnrades industry accomplishments and efforts in advancing the role of women working in the UAS marketplace.

The Women to Watch in UAS global initiative came about as a way to further our mission of identifying women in the industry who are making an impact, said Sharon Rossmark, founder and CEO of Women And Drones. Our award is designed to acknowledge women who are disrupting, innovating, and shaping the future of the UAS industry. Mary Wohnrade clearly epitomizes the term, Champion. We are proud to have her in our inaugural class of honorees.

The nine women honorees come from four countries, including the USA. Ms. Wohnrades recognition as a Champion solidifies her willingness to champion new ideas in the UAS field, freely share her breadth of industry knowledge, while supporting her peers (both men and women) in the industry.

Since purchasing my first drone in 2015, I have been striving to accomplish several goals related to UAS technology and the industry, Wohnrade says. I want to remain at the forefront of developing precision aerial topographic mapping, and incorporating that mapping into final civil engineering design. My goal is to prepare the most accurate data possible using the latest advances in UAS technology, and to continuously improve the accuracy of our geospatial mapping products. Being recognized by Women and Drones and Drone360 Magazine as One of the Women to Watch in UAS is a great honor and validates all my efforts in advancing this exciting technology.

About Mary Wohnrade
Wohnrade is a certified pilot and an FAA Section 333 Exemption Holder, as well as n FAA Part 107 Certified Operator. Since her introduction to UAS and precision aerial mapping in 2015, Mary Wohnrade and Wohnrade Civil Engineers (WCE) has been at the forefront of developing precision aerial mapping, and then incorporating this mapping into civil engineering design. Only a handful of companies have demonstrated they are truly qualified to produce precision aerial mapping using UAS, and WCE is recognized as a member of this exclusive group. Wohnrade Civil Engineering has also received national recognition of historic achievement as a result of their demonstration flight at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in October 2016. WCE collaborated with UAS Colorado, Black Swift Technologies, and the National Park Service to successfully map a 1-square mile area centered over the Star Dune, the tallest dune in the Park. In turn, WCE was recognized as the first FAA licensed operator to use a UAS to perform precision mapping in a National Park, an unparalleled achievement.
