March 23, 2015 Optech is pleased to reveal that the first of two keynote speakers for Optech Imaging and Lidar Solutions Conference 2015 is Lewis Graham, President and Chief Technology Officer of GeoCue Group, who will discuss the economic aspects of surveying with unmanned aerial systems!
Mr. Graham will kick off ILSC on June 9 with an in-depth look at the current state of small unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and their practical business use for airborne surveying. While expectations for these versatile systems are rising, their deployment costs can be high and their place in the surveying world remains unclear. Mr. Graham will get attendees up to speed on the rapidly changing small UAS market, including the current state of reliable hardware platforms and the instrument types available for installation. He will then delve into the business aspects of using a small UAS, examining what kinds of problems are amenable to being solved, how they can fit into current workflows, and how companies will need to change their business models to accommodate this quickly evolving technology. This keynote complements a wider discussion of small UAS business cases, processing challenges and trends on June 9, plus two demonstration flights of the Optech XR6 UAV on June 10 and 12.
A well-known and respected name in the imaging and lidar community, Mr. Graham brings a great deal of business insight and experience to the discussion of small UASes. Before joining GeoCue to focus on sensor processing workflow management, point cloud exploitation and small UAS mapping systems, he was also the founding CEO of Z/I Imaging Corporation and an Executive Vice President at Intergraph, managing the Mapping and Civil Engineering business units. Mr. Graham is an influential figure in the remote sensing industry as a whole, serving as Chair of the LAS file format Working Group for the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), a board member of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Foundation, and a panel member of National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) 15-44 for developing mobile lidar scanning standards for transportation.
ILSC 2015 runs June 9-12 in Toronto, Canada with networking opportunities, educational workshops and technical presentations. Optech would like to thank the major industry players who have sponsored ILSC 2015, including ITRES, Blue Marble and SOMAG, plus our Gold Sponsors, the world-famous lidar/imagery software developer Terrasolid and industry-leading creator of mobile positioning systems Applanix.
