LiDAR, Accuracy, & UAV: Aerial Services Summer Webinar Series Dates & Topics Announced – Registration Now Open

Aerial Services, Inc. (ASI), aerial remote-sensing and mapping firm based in Cedar Falls, Iowa, has announced their summer 2012 webinar series. These educationally driven, one-hour events will discuss a number of geospatial topics and are free to pre-registered attendees. Each is hosted by Aerial Services and/or partner geospatial professionals who are experts regarding the topics being discussed. Join us this summer and learn something new!

LiDAR 101 – 6/27/12, 2PM (Central) – Free

Chuck Boyer, Director of Business Development (Aerial Services)

Register Now for "LiDAR 101"

The series will begin in June with Aerial Services popular "LiDAR 101" presentation. This primer on Light-imaging Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) will discuss how it has become a common tool used in mapping and is being dispatched to complete more and more projects. The talk will help you understand what this technology is, how it works, and what it can be used for. Through this brief but informative presentation, we’ll get you up-to-date on LiDAR technology and its ability to offer acquisition of digital elevation data for large-scale mapping projects. We’ll also discuss how LiDAR can work alongside traditional aerial photography and photogrammetric techniques – making it even more powerful. Register Now for "LiDAR 101"

Ortho & LiDAR Accuracy – 7/25/12, 2PM (Central) – Free

Mike Tully, President & CEO (Aerial Services) & Charles O’Hara, President & CEO (Spatial Information Solutions)

Register Now for "Ortho & LiDAR Accuracy"

The July presentation will join the forces of Aerial Services decades of acquisition experience and Spatial Information Solutions software development and accuracy knowledge, to discuss "Ortho & LiDAR Accuracy." One of the major problems of using Ortho & LiDAR data today is the availability of data and information at multiple spatial scales or resolutions and temporal scales. The end result of using multi-scale data/information is getting varying amount of error in final outcomes. In order to increase accuracy of the final deliverable, it is imperative to know the error amount associated with final outcomes depending upon the scale used in a study. This session will increase awareness about sources and causes of error when using multi-scale geo-spatial data. It will also introduce methods existing to reduce error or establish a functional relationship between scale and error to garner knowledge about errors associated with scale change. UAV & Geospatial – 8/22/12, 2PM (Central) – Free

Mike Tully, President & CEO (Aerial Services)

Register Now for "UAV & Geosaptial"

The final summer webinar, held in August, will overview the upcoming use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in geospatial applications. "UAV & Geospatial" will inform the attendee as to the past, current, and future usage of UAV technology to acquire, map, and analysis geodata. Current FAA regulations limit the use of UAV for geo in many instances, but this will be changing as the government slowly integrates these new types of aircraft into American airspace. As this happens, professionals and novices will begin to use varying types of UAV to get access to more regular geodata with varying degrees of quality. Get prepared for this new class of data by staying up on the trends and technologies via this informative session. Register Now for "UAV & Geosaptial"
