3D Laser Mapping Announces Mining Conference

Nottingham, UK, 03 May 2012 3D Laser Mapping has announced a new event to demonstratetheir state of the art monitoring solution, SiteMonitor. The two day event, which will take place on the 25th and 26th July 2012 in Mokopane, South Africa, will combine technical demonstrations, user presentations and practical hands on sessions. Aimed at existing and potential users of SiteMonitor, the event will be co-hosted by Anglo American Platinum and will include a demonstration of the new long-range RIEGL VZ-4000 unit.

We find it extremely useful and rewarding to bring together both existing and potential users of our technology, commented Jon Chicken, Managing Director of 3D Laser Mapping. It gives us, and our partners, the opportunity to present and demonstrate new developments and we can get instant feedback from users. Delegates can network with their peers, share valuable expertise and get hands on experience of new equipment.

Places at the 2012 SiteMonitor User Conference are limited and attendance is strictly by invitation only. Professionals with an interest in mine safety or production monitoring are advised to send an initial expression of interest to 3D Laser Mapping by emailing info@3dlasermapping.com, faxing +44 (0) 870 121 4605 or calling +44 (0) 1949 838004. SiteMonitor, developed by 3D Laser Mapping Ltd, is a state of the art monitoring system using advanced laser scanning technology with powerful, simple to use software. It is a modular system that gives the user the ability to exploit the potential of laser scanning for measuring change, and improving mine safety. Typically used in open pit mines for the continuous or periodic stability monitoring of unstable high walls, it is available as a complete monitoring solution or a stand-alone software package.

Users of SiteMonitor systems can select from the latest V-Line range of laser scanners from Riegl, including the new long-range VZ-4000. All scanners offer online full-waveform analysis, digital processing and exceptional data capture rates, even with poor visibility. The data captured by the laser scanner is analysed using 3D Laser Mappings SiteMonitor software, which tracks and compares measurements over time. SiteMonitor systems are in use at diamond, gold, platinum, iron and coal mines across the world automatically detecting tiny movements in slopes and walls in open pit mines and calculating volume measurements for production management and operational monitoring.
