European User Meeting for 3D documentation in Zurich

The FARO European User Meeting in Zurich covers current developments and trends in 3D documentation with the help of modern laser scanners. On 22nd and 23rd May, experts, users and interested parties will meet to exchange ideas and experiences at technical lectures, workshops and networking opportunities at Schloss Sihlberg in Switzerland.

Coventry, March 28th, 2012. This year’s European User Meeting for laser scanning and 3D documentation will take place on 22nd and 23rd May at Schloss Sihlberg in Zurich. It will be hosted by FARO, the specialist in portable measuring technology. The event in Switzerland forms a unique platform for the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas about forward-looking measuring methods and 3D documentation. The possible uses of the modern technology are numerous and range from architecture and construction through forestry and agriculture and right up to reverse engineering, forensics and accident documentation. The programme provides for detailed presentations and in-depth workshops as well as extensive networking between the participants about the wide-ranging opportunities of 3D documentation.

New technology for experts and beginners

The European User Meeting in Zurich will focus on practical graphic examples. There will also be ample opportunity to expand on the details of 3D documentation in workshops. Numerous expert speakers have already agreed to attend the event. For example, Allessio Cardaci from the University of Bergamo will be talking on the topic of "Civil & Architecture". Architect Johannes Rechenbach from Hanover will be bringing along some new examples from his everyday working life for his workshop. He will show how the point clouds recorded with laser scanners can be used in Revit Architecture, and in this way make planning processes faster and more accurate. Ulrich Vlter from Intermetric GmbH will also address 3D documentation in engineering and architecture. With an expanded range of workshops, the organisers have responded to the request of many participants last year to have more time available for individual key topics. FARO will also place more emphasis this year on the topics of "learning" and know-how transfer. There will also be the opportunity to present your own topics and projects to other participants.

On both days of the event there will remain plenty of opportunity for the participants to establish networks. Accompanying the lectures and workshops there will also be insights into new topics and 3D documentation technologies. Current developments in hardware and software solutions will be demonstrated in live presentations. The User Meeting thus offers a podium for experts as well as beginners. Anyone who wants to gain a first impression of this modern technology and its potential, with no obligations, should come to Zurich in May and get information on the topic at first hand across sectors and in an interdisciplinary manner.
