The ASTM E57 3D Imaging Committee will be well represented at SPAR next week. E57 will have its own booth where you will be able to find out more about the activities of the 4 subcommittees, which include terminology, test methods, guidelines and data interoperability.
There will be a technical session Thursday morning on data formats, including an in-depth presentation on the recently approved E57 laser scanned data exchange format with a software demonstration. The bi-annual meeting of the committee will then kick-off on Thursday afternoon and run through mid-day Saturday.
In a conversation today with one of the subcommittee chairs we discussed the fact that now would be the time to get involved with ASTM. The industry has matured to the point where there is a real need for standards to propel the industry to the next level. The committee could really use your active support.
