I think this may be evidence of a maturing of a technology and a general level of acceptance, namely the announcement of a second professional trade organization related to 3D laser scanning. In this case John Russo, the founder of Architectural Resource Consultants ARC is seeking support for what he is calling the US Institute of Building Surveyors.
Johns firm specializes in this kind of work, and if you have heard him speak you begin to understand that there is a lot more to measuring a building, particularly a large, multi-story structure than people might think, and that includes experienced surveyors. John will be presenting his case for creating this organization next week at SPAR on Thursday morning.
