Maptek Sponsors APCOM 2009

Maptek, developer of cutting edge hardware and software for the mining industry, is a Gold Sponsor of APCOM 2009. The APCOM (Application of Computers and Operations Research in the Mineral Industry) conference takes place October 6-9 in Vancouver, BC, home to more than 700 junior mining companies and industry leaders.

According to Barry Henderson, CEO of Maptek, The APCOM conferences have always provided Maptek with an event to help ensure that Maptek remains on the leading-edge of mining technology as well as an opportunity to showcase exciting developments in Vulcan – the worlds best general mine planning software.

APCOM started in 1961 as a series of workshops at the University of Arizona, to analyze the latest innovations in minerals computer application development. Ever since, APCOM has been a major meeting place and discussion forum for mining professionals, researchers and suppliers worldwide.

Organized by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, the 2009 APCOM Symposium will present papers on systems of knowledge management, computer modeling in different areas of mining process, operations research, automation, robotics and virtual reality.

Maptek sponsored the last APCOM conference as well, held in Santiago in 2007.
