Ed Oliveras ... Ed is an industry consultant and contributing author who has been active in laser scanning since 2004. Much of his experience lies in providing contract scanning services in industrial plants, land surveying, construction and theme park attractions across the globe. In his first tenure at FARO Technologies Inc. from 2006-2008, he served as technical product manager of the LS880 and Photon products. Ed was also involved in new product design and development, software integration, customer training and support in the Americas. In his recent role at McKim & Creed, one of the largest private engineering and surveying firms in the southeast USA, he directed the 3-D Imaging and Applied Metrology group performing scan projects around the globe. Since rejoining FARO in 2011, his responsibilities as the FARO Focus3D Account Manager for the Southeast USA finds him at many trade shows and customer sites evangelizing the technology and its myriad applications.
