Dewberry Providing Geospatial Support to FEMA in Response to California Wildfires

Firm providing emergency support to assist in agencys response and recovery efforts

Fairfax, VAJanuary 29, 2018 – Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, is currently providing geospatial support, including damage assessments and imagery analysis, to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in response to the California wildfires that have impacted eight counties: Butte, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Nevada, Orange, Sonoma, and Yuba.

The data the firm is developing is providing situational awareness to FEMA and assists the agencys response and recovery efforts, including identifying building and infrastructure damage and debris modeling. The data is also helping expedite Individual Assistance grants and rental assistance. FEMA has approved more than 4,000 Individual Assistance applications for those affected.

The work is performed under the firms U.S. Department of Homeland Security Remote Sensing for Incidents contract. Dewberry is also providing geospatial support, including modeling, imagery analysis, and data interpretation, to FEMA in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
