Summit Presents Key Technology Initiatives that Support National Security and Energy Independence
October 8, 2013 Huntsville, AL – Mayor Tommy Battles three economic development initiatives, GEO Huntsville, Energy Huntsville and Cyber Huntsville, take center stage in a two-day event to explore the synergies presented by these technology sectors. The Summits theme is Technology Supporting our National Security and Energy Independence. The event will provide a unique networking opportunity for start-ups, small companies and prime contractors.
The program will be comprised of the regions top technologists, entrepreneurs and educators. In addition, keynote speaker, Dr. Christopher Tucker, the founding chief strategic officer ofIn-Q-Tel, theCIAs venture capital fund, will discuss the Cyber-Location Nexus, a term he coined suggesting that all cyber activity is instigated by people or organizations somewhere. Other guest speakers will include Dr. Joe Hoagland, TVAs senior vice president of Policy & Oversight and Lt. Gen. (ret) Ron Burgess former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and now Vice President for Research at Auburn University.
Mayor Battle said, I hope organizations will consider supporting the Summit. I will be there to work with these organizations to improve our understanding of how Huntsville can continue to provide even greater economic opportunities for our citizens and encourage more companies to recognize Huntsville as a great place to do business.
This Summit provides the opportunity to bring the areas technology companies together to discuss and recognize the synergies of these technologies in a way that only Huntsville can, said Joe Francica, conference co-chairman and lead for GEO Huntsville.
The Summit will be held November 14 and 15 in the Davidson Center for Space Exploration at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The Summit will feature plenary panel sessions with senior executives from organizations such as the TVA, Alabama Power, Intergraph, UAH, Auburn University, AEgis Technologies and many others.
