Its official the final version of the California Dept. of Transportations Terrestrial Laser Scanning Specifications has been issued. The authors want to stress the collaborative effort that went into this extremely valuable document. Academia, licensed professionals, experienced technicians, manufacturers, Caltrans District Surveys staff and the Office of Land Surveys at Caltrans headquarters all contributed to the development of this specification impressive.
Being involved with the development of laser scanning standards for the past 4 years I can assure you this is a major accomplishment and one that I expect will receive a lot of attention well beyond its primary audience. The spec covers both static and mobile scanning platforms.
