February 5, 2020 – Huntsville, AL – GeoCue Group is pleased to announce a partnership with Sumac Geomatics Incorporated, based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, as a Canadian distributor for GeoCue’s True View® integrated LIDAR/Imaging sensors for UAV/drone operations. Sumac Geomatics will be supporting True View customers in Ontario and Manitoba. GeoCue’s new True View product line provides integrated drone-based 3D LIDAR/Imaging sensors with full workflow software from data capture to product generation. The True View 410 is available for immediate delivery, with additional models being introduced later this year. True View sensors are available as a traditional equipment purchase or as an innovative Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) subscription model.
Sumac Geomatics is a service provider to the forestry, mining and civil engineering sectors. With strong foundations in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, photogrammetry, and field services, Sumac’s team has a reputation of delivering projects across Canada, especially in remote locations and communities. In a rapidly evolving industry, Sumac works hard to stay on the cutting-edge of software, hardware, and operational advances to remain responsive and effective both in the field and in the office. The company was one of the first in Canada to pioneer the commercial use of Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems (drones) and photogrammetry for high resolution mapping and surveying, has developed new approaches to forest operations planning, and is the Eastern Canada field service partner for the Photodocufy facility documentation service. More recently, Sumac has diversified its business with a hardware solutions business line. This includes becoming Canadian sales and service representative for the Teledyne Optech Cavity Monitoring System (CMS), an industry standard technology for monitoring/measuring stope-based mining. Sumac’s project experiences are now perfectly suited to bringing the True View 3D imaging system to its customers in Ontario and Manitoba.
Mr. Todd Domney, Managing Partner at Sumac Geomatics said, “Being one of the first firms in Canada to bring commercial drone-based mapping services to market and over 20 years of experience providing remote sensing and photogrammetry services to forestry, mining and civil engineering projects, we are delighted to add the GeoCue True View product to our sales and support business line. Having closely monitored drone-based LIDAR solutions since 2015, we see the integrated 3D imaging-LIDAR capability of the True View system combined with its transparent workflow, as a complete and reliable solution to meeting our clients survey needs.”
“We are excited to welcome Sumac Geomatics to the growing True View reseller community,” said Lewis Graham, President/CTO of GeoCue Group. “We are very selectively engaging only with partners who have deep expertise in using advanced drone sensor technology in high accuracy/value mapping. Sumac Geomatics very nicely fit this profile.”
Sumac Geomatics will be introducing True View at the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase at the annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) in Toronto March 1st – 4th, in Area 6501N/Booth #81. GeoCue Group will also be exhibiting at PDAC (Booth #7417N).
About GeoCue
GeoCue Group was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers with extensive experience in developing hardware and software solutions for primary remote-sensed data acquisition. Our initial products were aimed at reducing schedule and cost risk in geospatial production workflows by providing organizational, productivity and data management tools for base geospatial data production. These tools have been realized as the GeoCue product family. Today GeoCue workflow management tools are used by a majority of North American geospatial production shops. In 2005, GeoCue began selling and supporting Terrasolid tools for kinematic LIDAR data production. This was followed in 2009 by our acquisition of QCoherent Software LLC, the creator of the point cloud exploitation toolset, LP360. Today GeoCue is the largest supplier of kinematic LIDAR processing tools in North America and LP360 is one of the world’s most widely used tool for exploiting point cloud data. In 2014, GeoCue Group started a division focused on using small Unmanned Aerial Systems for high accuracy mapping. Leveraging our expertise in production, risk reduction, and point cloud processing tools, we are continuing to bring new services and products to market to provide surveyors and other geomatics professionals exciting tools for geospatial data extraction using low cost drones including Loki, our plug-and-play PPK direct positioning system, and now our new True View LIDAR/Imagery sensors.
