Unique airports, similar needs, the same platform: dozens of airports run Outsight’s Spatial Intelligence Platform, switching to the new generation of passenger flow measurement
Paris, 21st September 2026. Outsight, the global leader in infrastructure-based Physical AI, announces that more than 280 million annual passengers now travel under the real-time measurement of its Spatial Intelligence Platform, processing over 2 terabytes of 3D data every minute. Airports everywhere share similar needs: knowing continuously, and in real time, how passengers move through their facilities. They are answering those needs with the same platform. Among the dozens of airports running the platform, some of the busiest hubs in the USA, together with airports as emblematic as Rome Fiumicino in Europe and Singapore Changi in Asia, show what deploying it at scale looks like.
Unique Airports, Similar Needs, the Same Platform
Every airport is unique: its layout, its traffic mix, its passenger profile, its ambitions. What every one of them needs is continuous, real-time knowledge of how passengers move, from curbside operations management to check-in, security screening, duty free, lounges and immigration: visibility of queues, occupancy, throughput and resource allocation at every touchpoint.
In the USA, the platform runs at some of the busiest airports on the West Coast, the East Coast and in the central United States. One of them, ranking among the world’s busiest airports, operates the world’s largest airport curbside deployment of Spatial Intelligence based on 3D LiDAR. Its international terminal’s curbside is monitored end-to-end in real time across both its departures and arrivals levels, rendered as a live Motional Digital Twin of the terminal frontage. The system went live ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and ran throughout the tournament, giving curbside teams a second-by-second, fully anonymous picture of every vehicle and passenger, with dwell-time and overstay alerts, wrong-zone parking alerts, vehicle speed monitoring and congestion insight by zone, level and time.
In Europe, Rome Fiumicino, ranked among the world’s top 10 airports by Skytrax, took the platform from Aeroporti di Roma’s “Runway to the Future” innovation program to an industrial-scale rollout. Following a successful initial phase in the arrivals immigration area, the deployment extends across nearly all Schengen common-use areas, including check-in halls, security lanes and gate areas. The platform turns real-time movement into actionable insight on people flow, queue formation and congestion across the passenger journey.
In Asia, Singapore Changi Airport measures key touchpoints such as arrival immigration and taxi queuing continuously across all four terminals, all feeding into a single unified data layer. At each touchpoint, passenger journeys are captured and translated into operational measures: including current and predicted wait times, queue length, occupancy and throughput. This record of how passengers move, behave and interact supports real-time operations, evidence-based planning, and passenger experience design over time.
Customers in South America and Oceania are also requiring the same kind of Spatial Intelligence solution, confirming an industry-wide movement.
A Generational Switch Sweeping the Airport Industry
The switch is happening at industry scale: airports of every size and region are adopting Spatial Intelligence leveraging native 3D sensing to build a full real-time replica of physical flows across their terminals, changing the way operators measure, understand and predict how passengers move.
The value reaches every scale of operation, not only in the largest hubs of the world: Bordeaux Airport, serving nearly 6 million passengers a year, deployed the platform in Hall A to reduce passenger waiting times by matching resources to real-time demand, and Costa Rica’s Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Santamaría has adopted the same solution.
At the touchpoints where stereovision people counters have produced approximate counts and wait times for years, this new generation takes over their role. It then extends across the full journey, from curb to gate: continuous individual tracking, behaviour understanding, and dozens of current and predicted KPIs at every touchpoint, wait times, queue length, occupancy and throughput among them, with Laser precision. Each touchpoint produces a live Motional Digital Twin, with real-time alerts delivered to operations teams through a Dashboard, immediate Alerts and an API to integrate with existing airport systems.
Powered by 3D LiDAR, Enriched by Every Data Source
Outsight’s Physical AI Platform leverages 3D LiDAR sensing and is compatible with more than 210 LiDAR sensor models from all relevant manufacturers, so each terminal and zone is equipped with the sensors best suited to its layout, all feeding the same data layer, with coverage extending zone by zone. The platform fuses this 3D data with data from any other source, including cameras, WiFi, boarding pass information and POS. The measurement is anonymous by definition: the sensing captures only geometry, with no facial data, no personally identifiable information and no identification of individuals.
“For the first time, operators can measure, understand and predict complete passenger flows across the entire airport, and turn that knowledge into operational excellence, brilliant passenger experiences, safer environments and higher non-aeronautical revenue. This milestone shows how fast the switch is happening: infrastructure-based Physical AI, deployed at scale, is now part of daily operations at the world’s busiest hubs.” —Raul Bravo, President Founder, Outsight
The Foundation for Agentic AI and Robotics
The live replica each airport builds is also the foundation of what comes next.
A Motional Digital Twin structures physical reality into complete individual journeys, behaviours and predictions within one spatial and temporal reference, and this structured, contextualized data is exactly what Agentic AI systems need to report facts, uncover insight, forecast demand and prescribe actions in the physical world.
The same shared awareness layer extends to mobile robots, giving every robot on site Global Situation Awareness beyond its own line of sight, so fleets from any vendor can perceive, plan and act with knowledge of the entire premises. Gartner recognizes this leadership: Outsight has been recently named a leading vendor for Ambient Intelligence in the Gartner Hype Cycle for Physical AI, 2026.
About Outsight
Outsight’s Physical AI continuously digitizes the movement, behavior, and interactions of people, vehicles and robots at scale, producing real-time Spatial Intelligence built on 3D LiDAR data and enriched with other available data sources. Operators of large, complex environments, including transportation hubs such as airports and train stations, sports and entertainment venues, road infrastructure, and industrial sites, rely on this Spatial Intelligence to enhance operations, improve visitor experiences, and strengthen safety and security. We support customers across five continents from our offices in Paris, San Francisco, Singapore and Hong Kong, driven by the belief that accelerating the global adoption of Spatial Intelligence will lead to a smarter, safer, and more sustainable world.
