Drs. Austin Madson & Jorge Delgado to bolster key coverage areas
Frederick, Maryland – October 21st, 2024 — Following a successful INTERGEO in Stuttgart, Germany, Spatial Media, publisher of LIDAR Magazine, has announced the addition of two geospatial technology experts as associate editors of LIDAR Magazine. Each will address specific areas of expertise, including podcast, to enhance and expand the magazine’s coverage.
Dr. Austin Madson, assistant professor at the Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center – WyGISC and founder of Mad Nadir Mapping, is a physical geographer with research interests in the Earth and geoscience realms. In particular, Austin has experience with advanced remote sensing technologies, autonomous rover and UAV construction, sensor fusion, UAS data acquisition and the integration of RS and GIS technologies.
Earlier in 2024, Austin joined Spatial Media as a co-host of the LIDAR Magazine Podcasts, and has hosted interviews with eminent USGS representatives, operators of geospatial data repositories and more. Austin’s unique geoscience background and passion for geotechnology will aid the magazine greatly in the months and years to come.
Dr. Jorge Delgado, Assistant Professor of the Department of Engineering and Cartography, Geodesy and Photogrammetry, University of Jaén, in Andalucía, Spain, has also joined with the intention of developing the publication’s Spanish language content. In addition to written contributions and translations, Dr. Delgado intends to host podcast episodes of “Lidar en Español”, an all-new discussion series that courts Spanish speakers who are making an impact in the world of geospatial technology. As of 2024, Spanish has become the second most common native language globally.
Over the past 30 years, Dr. Delgado has held numerous roles at the university and now serves as the tenured Dean of the School of Engineering in Jaén. His collaborations with the World Bank as a cartography specialist have led him to participate in various projects developed by companies and institutions not only in Spain but also in Central and South America. This involvement affords him unique oversight of a wide range of geospatial development activities in the Spanish-speaking world.
