Joseph Pavao Joins Dewberry as a Business Unit Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

Experienced engineer to drive growth and oversee staff in firm’s Boston office.

R 240116 N3 1Fairfax, VA—January 18, 2024 – Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that Joseph Pavao, PE, has joined the firm as a business unit manager for its Boston, Massachusetts, office. In this role, Pavao will oversee a staff of nearly 30 professionals who provide transportation, water, site/civil, and geographic information systems services to Dewberry’s clients throughout the Boston area, including those in the commercial, federal, and state/local markets.

Prior to joining Dewberry, Pavao served as chief engineering officer for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority where he was responsible for leading approximately $80 million in an annual design budget for the engineering, planning, asset management, and quality management teams. He has over 25 years of experience managing multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects, program budgets, and design and construction contracts. Pavao’s background includes design-build and traditional project delivery methods, including the design and delivery of the new Green Line Type 10 Vehicles scheduled for initial commissioning in early 2027, delivery of new Red/Orange Line cars, and the Silver Line extension project.

Pavao received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell (1992).
