NV5 Geospatial and InDro Robotics to Host “The Future of Substation Inspection” Webinar on February 17th

Webinar will examine the benefits of digitization and robotics, pitfalls of robots integration and the capacity for robots to conduct substation inspections

February 15, 2021 NV5 Geospatial, North America’s largest geospatial data firm, today announced a complementary webinar co-hosted with InDro Robotics , “The Future of Substation Inspection,”  which will take place on Thursday, February 17, 2022 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. You can register for the event here. During the webinar, attendees will learn how unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) are conducting operational rounds, security monitoring, and providing emergency response and substation  inspections at critical infrastructure facilities.

Ian Berdie, VP of Innovation and Jacob Hall, Director of Strategic Accounts from NV5 Geospatial and Peter King, Head of Robotic Solutions, and Luke Corbeth, Account Executive, from InDro Robotics will lead the webinar. InDro’s King and Corbeth will detail the optimal scenarios for given payloads and robot form factors while sharing their stance on the autonomy versus teleoperations debate. NV5 Geospatial’s Berdie and Hall will share the inefficiencies they’ve identified on-site during prior substation inspections and demonstrate how their analytics will aim to identify anomalies, create actionable data sets and generate consistent reports.

Attendees will learn:

  • How robots can make the inspection process more efficient.
  • Why robots shouldn’t be built as a “one-size-fits-all” solution.
  • How to integrate remote sensing robots for a positive return on investment.

Attendees will also experience a live webinar demonstration, where they will learn how Sentinel, InDro Robotics’ UGV designed specifically for critical infrastructure inspection, can traverse a substation environment and conduct detailed inspections with optical zoom cameras and a radiometric thermal imager.

“The future of substation inspection is now here,” said, Ian Berdie. “By migrating to robotics and advance analytics, utilities will reap tremendous benefits, from protecting the safety of their workforce, reducing costs and optimizing operations and reliability.”
