Shenzhen, April 23, 2021 – DeepRoute, a full-stack Level 4 self-driving solution provider, obtained the robotaxi pilot program permit in Shenzhen. DeepRoute is the first company that is granted with the permit, which allows DeepRoute to provide self-driving vehicle to the public in Shenzhen.
Nianqiu Liu, partner and vice president of DeepRoute, said: “After receiving the permit, DeepRoute will start providing robotaxi service to the public in Shenzhen’s downtown in the middle of this year.”
To comply with requirements of regulations in Shenzhen, DeepRoute’s self-driving vehicles have passed 12 functional tests, including pedestrian and non-motor vehicle identification and response, traffic signal identification and response, and driving through intersections and roundabouts.
Since the establishment in early 2019, DeepRoute has accumulated more than one million kilometers of safety testing on public test roads in urban areas of Shenzhen, Wuhan, and Hangzhou. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic magnifies the importance of “social distance” and “unmanned” technology, bringing the self-driving technology from behind the scenes to the front of the stage.
Nianqiu Liu said, “DeepRoute has already deployed robotaxi service in Wuhan with Dongfeng Motor. For the self-driving pilot program in Shenzhen, we are well prepared in terms of technology and experience. As regulations related to self-driving vehicles progress, we will soon launch the robotaxi service to more people”.
