Stuttgart/Karlsruhe 15 May 2019 – Geoinformation has filtered into every area of our lives, with hardly a single website or app able to function without it. Planning, visualising and designing, creating sustainable living spaces, understanding increasingly complex interconnections, finding answers to important questions such as climate change and environmental protection – all of this would be impossible without precise geographic data. “Geodata forms the foundation for our digital society and is thus becoming the currency of the future,” says Prof. Hansjörg Kutterer, President of the DVW (German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management). “These developments are exciting and our industry is not just affected by them – it is actively shaping them.”

INTERGEO, the world’s leading trade fair for geodesy, offers insights into the current state and future prospects of this highly dynamic sector. Now celebrating its 25th year, the event has expanded further to keep pace with the industry’s dynamic growth. From 17 to 19 September 2019, visitors to the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre can look forward to the biggest INTERGEO yet, including a wide-ranging EXPO complemented by a CONFERENCE with high-profile speakers focussing on the very latest megatrends, such as drone technology, the relevant applications and smart cities. The German Cartography Conference, organised by the German Society for Cartography and Geoinformation, is an integral part of the INTERGEO conference. This year’s slogan is “Playing with an open hand”. Exciting insights into the visualisation of our world of data are guaranteed. The POSITIONALE – a sub-section of the conference concentrating on navigation and satellite data – will discuss future aspects likely to emerge in GNSS.

Over 680 exhibitors spearheading change will be providing insights at the Expo
“The world’s leading trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management looks back on a success story spanning 25 years,” says patron Horst Seehofer, the Federal Minister of the Interior, Building and Community, in his welcome address. “The event is a showcase for radical innovations and pioneering technologies.” In this anniversary year, more than 680 industry exhibitors from 50 countries are revealing the full potential of geoinnovations offered by the growing geospatial sector – from built-in sensors, real-time communication and processing software right through to modelling and data analysis for the key field of building information modelling (BIM). Some 17,000 visitors from all over the world are expected to make their way to Stuttgart.

Conference looks ahead and highlights opportunities
Featuring keynote speeches by representatives from business, science and politics, the INTERGEO conference will underscore the infeasibility of social progress without geodata. Dr. Markus Kerber (State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community) will be revealing what future prospects and opportunities for modernising our living environment are emerging as a result of digitalisation founded on geoinformation. Smart city expert Joachim Schonowski will provide a critical interim review of the city of the future, drawing international comparisons and proposing that it’s high time action was taken. Jürgen Dold (CEO of Hexagon Geosystems) will be tapping into another hot topic, highlighting the “wonderful opportunities” for the geospatial sector that are opening up in light of current developments.

Topics related to smart cities and drones
This year’s INTERGEO will also focus on pleasant, sustainable and efficient living spaces of the future. The integrated SMART CITY SOLUTIONS platform will offer valuable presentations dedicated to this topic, while a string of exhibitors will demonstrate inspiring solutions for the city of the future.

Having soared to the top of the agenda, drones will be presented in all their areas of application. Besides the offerings of 100 or so exhibitors in this field, Europe’s largest drone trade fair will also be training the spotlight on live demonstrations in the Flight Zone and panel discussions about the latest trends.
