March 25, 2015 Optech is pleased to announce that it will reveal significant new workflow capabilities at the SPAR International Conference taking place March 30 – April 2, 2015 in Houston TX, as well as a paper co-presented with a valued client on the real-world design engineering accuracies obtainable with an Optech mobile lidar.
As part of the 3D Technologies and Applications track, the Chief Technology Officer of Navmatica Corporation Dr. Mohamed Mostafa will give a presentation using data collected by its Lynx Mobile Mapper that demonstrates the accuracy achievable by mobile lidar with the right tools. Titled Geometric Accuracy Analysis of Mobile Mapping Data for 3D High Precision Mapping Applications, Dr. Mostafas discussion will focus on the unmatched design engineering accuracies Lynx can achieve in the face of real-world conditions and challenges, including GNSS accuracy degradation in urban centers due to high-rise buildings, tunnels and bridges; the accuracy and stability of the IMU boresight and sensor calibration; and the joining of multiple collections together in a single deliverable. Surveyors and mappers interested in hearing how to improve production efficiency and overcome the challenges of high-accuracy mapping in urban areas can hear this in-depth presentation, co-presented with Optech Business Manager Albert Iavarone, in Room 360 EF on April 1 in the 11:00-12:30 session, or in Room 361AB on April 2 at 9:30.
Optech staff will also explain how the latest features of Optech LMS 3.0 improve processing consistency and accuracy for Optechs mobile and airborne lidars and cameras. For Lynx, LMS 3.0 offers image support for Certainty 3D TopoDOT and Virtual Geomatics ensuring the imagery from all Lynx cameras can be imported into those environments. Lynx users can also take advantage of new LMS tools to reduce trajectory drift in poor GNSS conditions, delivering accurate and consistent data even for challenging projects. Meanwhile, airborne surveyors and mappers will benefit from the new support for airborne camera processing in LMS 3.0. This innovation combines automated sensor calibration, boresighting and lidar rectification within the same software workflow, improving processing accuracy and production efficiency for multisensor systems to a degree not possible with factory boresighted systems. LMS 3.0 is currently in beta testing, and is planned for full release in May 2015.
Attendees interested in learning more about these new features can find Optech in the exhibition hall at booth 316, or see a live demonstration of LMS 3.0 in a product presentation on March 30, 3:20 – 3:40 pm in Room 335A.
