CASTLE ROCK, Colorado, USA, 15 December 2014 Kevin Corbley, president of Corbley Communications Inc., has celebrated 25 years in the Geospatial industry. Corbley began his geospatial career in 1989 when he joined the public affairs office of EOSAT, the commercial operator of the U.S. Landsat program. Four years later, Corbley launched Corbley Communications Inc., the leading provider of business development and strategic communications services to Geospatial organizations worldwide.
Ive been building and growing Geospatial businesses for 25 years, said Corbley.
Corbley graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Earth Science, concentrating in remote sensing. In the late 1980s, he worked as a journalist in Washington, D.C., covering the energy sector before being hired by EOSAT in Lanham, Md.
At EOSAT, I was fortunate to be part of the team that built the foundation for what is now the commercial satellite imaging business, he said.
After leaving EOSAT in 1993, Corbley started Corbley Communications in Denver as an international public relations firm that enabled Geospatial organizations to deliver messaging directly to target audiences now known as content marketing. The firm quickly expanded to provide a variety of services including strategic communications and business development.
The geospatial industry was in its infancy at that time as remote sensing, GIS and GPS technologies began to intersect, said Corbley. New companies were starting, but there was no dedicated PR firm to support their sales and marketing efforts and assist with business development, so I decided to fill the niche.
Over the next several years, Corbley served as a consultant to numerous high-profile geospatial start-ups, including Space Imaging, ORBIMAGE, GeoEye, DigitalGlobe, RADARSAT and others. In addition, Corbleys firm has provided long-term marketing communications support to some of the biggest players in the industry, such as Intergraph, ERDAS, SPOT Image, Trimble, and Leica.
The Corbley Communications client base has grown to include high-tech companies in other fields including aerospace, oil & gas, natural resources, location-based services and defense/intelligence.
