CompassTools Hires Sales Manager for Nebraska, Minnesota and Dakotas

CENTENNIAL, Colorado, 27 January 2014 CompassTools Inc., a distributor of mapping and GIS products for field data collection, is pleased to announce the hiring of Joshua Appleman, GISP, as a Territory Sales Manager. Based in Omaha, Neb., Appleman will serve existing clients and develop new opportunities for CompassTools products and services in Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Josh is a certified GIS Professional (GISP) with an extensive background in project management, field data collection and GIS analysis, said CompassTools CEO Steve Chiles. He understands the importance of providing the right GPS or GIS tool for each data collection project.

CompassTools is a value-added reseller of hardware and software mapping solutions from Trimble, Laser Technology, Ricoh, GeoSpatial Experts, Esri, and CartoPac. Since 1994, CompassTools has sold, leased, repaired, and offered training on the latest GPS and GIS mapping products in an eight-state region that includes Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Minnesota, Nebraska, the Dakotas and parts of Texas. In addition, the firm provides expert GPS/GIS consulting and creates customized bundled solutions to meet the specific needs of complex data collection projects.

Prior to joining CompassTools, Appleman served as Asset Manager/GIS Specialist for the City of West Jordan, Utah, where he coordinated and led many GIS/GPS development, training and support programs for the Public Works Department. Appleman also worked as a Utility Field Solutions Coordinator for Electronic Data Solutions in Jerome, Idaho. Other positions include Senior Engineering Technician at Gatherco Inc. and GIS Manager at BL Robinson Engineering & Surveying.

Appleman joined the GIS industry in 1997 after graduating from Ball State University with a bachelors degree in GIS, Cartography and Remote Sensing. He earned his GISP certification in 2009.

With his strong background in public works, Appleman expects to spend considerable time assisting water utilities in rural areas with the creation of asset management systems for their pipeline networks. In addition, he sees tremendous opportunities in providing bundled mapping solutions to oil and gas operations that are currently booming in North Dakota.
