Investment to accelerate product development and sales growth efforts
Houston, TX October 22, 2013 DotProduct, an emerging leader in providing technology to capture 3D data, today at the Intel Capital Global Summit announced that it has closed a round of seed funding with Intel Capital. The funding will be used to accelerate product development and sales growth.
Intel Capitals deep experience and global scale with mobile computing will be invaluable to DotProduct as we develop 3D software solutions for tablet platforms. We are honored to be part of Intel Capitals portfolio and proud to have our technology recognized in this way, said Brian Ahern, CEO of DotProduct.
DotProduct develops high performance, easy-to-use software for capturing and processing 3D data on Android tablets. Use cases for companys Phi.3D software range from creating 3D construction documentation for oil and gas facilities to documenting crime scenes to imaging movies sets for gaming and entertainment applications. Customers across a wide variety of industries use 3D data to mitigate project execution risk and contain costs and schedules.
"3D reconstruction will change the way we capture the world, from objects, people and places," said Mark Yahiro, Managing Director of New Business for Intel’s Perceptual Computing Group. "DotProduct is on the forefront of the next wave of computing and we are excited to see their solutions come to the market." DotProduct software runs on widely available, low-cost tablets; uses off-the-shelf 3D camera sensors and connects to well-established design, engineering and capital asset management solutions.
Our customers want a streamlined solution to get the 3D data they need on the jobsite on a tablet or ultimately a phone. Our technology is designed to take full advantage of ever increasing compute power on tablet architectures and a raft of new 3D sensor technologies coming on stream with step function improvement in price performance, said Rafael Spring, CTO and founder.
