Symposium and Exhibit
Geospatial Innovation for Society
July 1 4, 2014 | Salzburg, Austria
Geospatial technologies benefit the society in a variety of areas such as infrastructure management, ecological monitoring, humanitarian activities and learning. At the same time, recent innovations raise new questions concerning not only methods of analysis, representation, and visualization, but also concerning control, surveillance, privacy and ethics that need to be addressed.
The GI_Forum 2014 provides a platform for dialogue among technologists and critical thinkers, GIScientists and educationalists in an ongoing effort to address these issues and thus support the creation of an informed GISociety. Bearing in mind different perspectives of these topics from a variety of professions, presentations, workshops and exhibitions will concentrate on innovations in technologies, science and education in the spatial domain and their possible contribution to a more just, ethical and sustainable society. Prominent keynote speakers will highlight new developments, offer insights into trends and visions, and at the same time be available for our Young Researchers’ Corner for more individualised interaction with young researchers.
Themes & Application Fields. The GI_Forum presents original research on innovations in the field of geospatial technologies across a range of scientific and technological domains. GI_Forum solicits contributions in full paper and extended abstract versions in, but not limited to the following topics:
Innovations in geospatial technologies
Advances in GIScience
Spatial technologies
Monitoring Global Change
Citizenship and education
Education with digital earth
Learning Environments in Primary and Secondary Education
GI_Forum is organized by the Department of Geoinformatics Z_GIS in cooperation with the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the German University of Technology in Muscat, Oman and runs concurrently with the highly regarded German language conference on Applied Geoinformatics AGIT. The two symposia share the innovative AGIT EXPO exhibit and stimulating social events.
