Investment in Learning Has Resulted in 593 Colleagues Being Trained in Basic 3D Design Applications

CHANGSHA, China 18 June 2013 HydroChina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation, an organization engaged in the planning, investigation, and design of hydropower and wind-power projects, today announced that its Utilization of the Bentley LEARN Training Subscription project has won a 2012 Be Inspired Special Recognition Award from Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure. The project won in the Sustaining the Professions category. The Be Inspired Special Recognition Awards are placed into nomination by an independent panel of jurors for their uniquely innovative and visionary achievements embracing multiple Be Inspired Awards categories. The nominees are then reviewed by a panel of Bentley executives, who evaluate them on the criteria established for each award and select those projects that most exemplify outstanding achievement in infrastructure.

Commenting on the award presented to HydroChina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation for its Utilization of the Bentley LEARN Training Subscription project, Anne-Marie Walters, Bentley Global Marketing Director, Industrial Process and Operations, said, The Sustaining the Professions award is given to an organization that best demonstrates a commitment to sustaining the infrastructure professions through continuous learning, professional development, and mentoring the next generation of infrastructure professionals, while providing an exceptional environment for learning.

HydroChina Zhongnans core values of reliability, innovation, and preeminence have enabled the organization to deliver exceptional results to its customers. Corporate goals include training existing staff, attracting and retaining new talent, teaching staff how to better compete in the global market, and fostering a proactive culture in which colleagues take the initiative to further educate themselves. As a result, senior management has made it compulsory for each business unit to have at least 40 percent of its staff attend 40 hours of job-related technical training each year.

This commitment by senior management to implement the training initiative and investment in learning has resulted in a total of 593 colleagues being trained in basic 3D design using MicroStation over a two-month period in 2011. In 2012, more than 900 colleagues received Bentley application-related training through the Bentley LEARN training subscription. Applying incremental learning has improved the quality of HydroChina Zhongnans deliverables while also reducing costs.
