Aerial Services, Inc. (ASI), the remote-sensing and mapping firm based in Cedar Falls, Iowa, has announced their summer 2013 webinar series. These educationally driven, one-hour events will discuss a number of geospatial topics and are free to pre-registered attendees. Each is hosted by Aerial Services and/or partner geospatial professionals who are experts regarding the topics being discussed. Join us this summer and learn something new!
Mapping with Thermal Imaging 5/29/13
Aaron Schepers, President (Cornerstone Mapping, Inc.)
The series will begin in late May with Aerial Services hosting a partner, Cornerstone Mappings Aaron Schepers, speaking on Thermal technologies. Converging airborne technologies has enabled the combination of thermal imaging with mapping cameras. Traditional color and CIR (Color Infrared) imagery facilitates thermal image interpretation while the thermal imagery identifies heat signatures that are otherwise invisible. As a result, thermal remote sensing is becoming a practical solution for mapping applications. Incorporating thermal imagery with geospatial data opens new opportunities. This session will cover various aspects of airborne thermal imaging and its practical applications. Register for this free presentation
LiDAR Applications You Can Use 6/19/13
Adam Campbell, LiDAR Specialist (Aerial Services, Inc.)
Junes webinar will overview Light Imaging Detection and Rangings (LiDAR) abilities and possible applications, as discussed by Aerial Services LiDAR guru, Adam Campbell. This primer on LiDAR will discuss how it has become a common tool used in mapping and is being dispatched to complete more and more projects. Through this informative presentation, well get you up-to-date on LiDAR technology; discuss waveform technology, and its ability to offer acquisition of digital elevation data for large-scale mapping projects.Ample example data will be displayed to give the flavor for what LiDAR can do for you.Register for this free presentation
Ortho & LiDAR Accuracy Concepts 7/31/13
Mike Tully, President & CEO (Aerial Services, Inc.)
For the July presentation well discuss Ortho & LiDAR Accuracy. One of the major problems of using Ortho & LiDAR data today is the abundant availability of inexpensive data and information at multiple scales, resolutions, and time periods. Sources of errors tend to accumulate in these datasets. In order to increase accuracy of the final deliverable, it is imperative to know the source and amount of error associated with the final outcomes. This session will describe sources and causes of error when using multi-scale geospatial data and how to handle them professionally. It will also introduce methods used to reduce error and understand the relationship between scale and error.Register for this free presentation
