Atlantic Acquires New Equipment

Huntsville, Ala. Atlantic has purchased a Leica ALS60 LiDAR System that is equipped with a RCD105 digital camera and waveform digitizer. The full waveform capabilities of the system allow Atlantic to model the entire wavelength of energy emitted from the LiDAR sensor. The wavelength information is especially useful for environmental, forestry and utility projects.

Adding another high-performance LiDAR sensor with an integrated camera system and a waveform digitizer helps Atlantic fulfill our mission of expanding our services to new and emerging markets, said Brian Mayfield, Executive Vice President, Atlantic.

The addition of a third LiDAR system and a second digital camera, combined with four aircraft, make Atlantic one of the largest remote sensing operations in the southeastern United States. The company has a plan in place with Hexagon to upgrade the ALS60 to an ALS70-HP later in 2013, which will make Atlantic one of a small number of remote sensing firms with two
ALS70-HPs.
