kubit Announcements: New products, new advancements, new integration with Autodesk 2014

This year at Spar 2013, kubit will introduce a new product, PointSense Building, as well as new versions of kubit VirtuSurv (with a connection to Revit), PointSense Plant and Heritage. The classic kubit PointCloud Pro will receive a name change to "PointSense Pro" and join the PointSense family. New releases are set for May and June of 2013 with full compatibility to Autodesk 2014 products. PointSense Building: The latest member of the product family, PointSense Building, aims to help users needing to quickly generate 2D plans and sections from 3D scans with simple prompts for creation of line work such as, rooms, doors, windows, stairs, niches and many other architectural elements. A structured room book can be used for creation of facility reports and visualizations. PointSense Building will help users moving from classic surveying technologies transition smoothly into laser scanning.

PointSense Plant: Plant users will be pleased to experience a much faster "Walk the Run" during pipe run extraction. Patterns for components along pipe runs will appear instantly and in many cases the software will automatically find the next item along the line without user interaction. In addition to piping improvements, structural extraction will be equipped with new "constraints" options to ensure beams align within a common structure. Larger structural catalogs as well as post-editing and improved batch fitting tools for beams will also make structural extraction a more pleasant experience. The latest feature in PointSense Plant is tank analysis. Users can now perform deformation analysis and volume calculations on large diameter tanks, vessels and pipes with full graphical and database reporting.

PointSense Heritage: PointSense Heritage improves upon current features by addition of "point cloud unwrapping" for arc, vaulted and curved facade surfaces. Preservationists needing to generate plan drawings from rounded cloud surfaces will find this feature very useful. Image unwrapping from irregular/prismatic surfaces can now be flattened into scaled ortho-photos. New annotation tools are also available for mapping excavations.

VirtuSurv: kubit’s standalone product for easy integration with high-resolution scan views was introduced in 2012 for users needing an non-intimidating and flexible approach to working with laser scans. Version 6 adds a direct link from VirtuSurv to Autodesk Revit for easy BIM modeling of many architectural elements and modeling lines. This is kubit’s first step into the Revit design world. VirtuSurv 6 also provides direct integration with BricsCAD for the budget conscious designer as well as pre-built macros for Rhino users.
