COLORADO October 9, 2012 – Merrick & Companys geospatial solutions group (Merrick GeoSpatial Services) is again working with HDR Engineering, Inc. (HDR) and Western Area Power Administration (Western). In conjunction with the team, Merrick is acquiring airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) survey and ground survey data for the 35-linear-mile Torrington-Wildcat-Gering Line, which runs from Torrington, WY to Gering, NE. Data is being collected to provide digital topographical/feature mapping, CAD drawings for plan and profile generation of each individual transmission line, as well as providing conductor operating temperature assessments. This data will assist Western in determining if they can re-rate this particular line. HDR is creating the models and reporting any points of interest.
