Gexcel Srl Launches ScanArmor Automated Protective Scanner Enclosure and Newly Enhanced Mining Workflow Software

4th of October, 2012, Brescia, Italy– Gexcel Srl proudly releases its new gexcel ScanArmor Automated Protective Scanner Enclosure along with the most recently updated and enhanced JRC 3D Reconstructor MINING application package.

The gexcel ScanArmor Automated Protective Scanner Enclosure is a rugged enclosure, fully IP54 certified and compatible with most commercially available 3D scanners and profiler systems. A 3D laser scanner is permanently mounted within the enclosure at a fixed location and becomes activated via an ethernet signal from a remote location which opens the enclosure, raises the scanner with an elevator mechanism, executes scan of a predetermined area and then lowers the scanner into the protective environment. The JRC 3D Reconstructor MINING application package then provides a complete analysis including cross sections, isolines, Digital Terrain Models (DTMs), mine break lines as CAD drawings, deformation and displacement maps, areas, and cut & fill volumes calculations. The JRC 3D Reconstructor MINING application package is fully compatible and scalable with the Gexcel R3Xtream Point Cloud Engine software providing shared web browser based visualization access to virtually unlimited size point clouds on standalone workstations and network servers.

Gexcel Srl has a rich history spanning more than 10 years of proven fully featured lidar and imagery analysis software packages with the JRC 3D Reconstructor, completely compatible with all terrestrial, mobile and airborne scanners from manufacturers such as Faro, Leica, MDL, Optech, Riegl, Topcon, Trimble and Z+F. Gexcel Srl is a spin off company of the University of Brescia, established in 2007 from the academic know-how of the University and the applied research achievements of the European Joint Research Centre (JRC), located in Ispra (Italy). Gexcel Srl is proud to support all major standard formats such as the ASTM E57 and LAS.
