Lvis, August 9, 2012 Creaform, leader in 3D portable measurement technologies and 3D engineering services, wishes to congratulate elite kayaker Jessica Fox and skipper Gilles Lamir and his crew for their outstanding aquatic performances last week in Europe. 18 year-old Australian sensation Jessica Fox won silver in the slalom K1 race at the London 2012 Olympic Games, while Gilles Lamir took the second rank in the 2012Qubec-Saint-Malo transat aboard the Dfi Saint-Malo Agglo 60-foot trimaran sailboat.
A seat fit for a queen
As part of Creaforms 2012 Put Us to the Test contest, our 3D Engineering Services team has been involved with Australian Institute of Sport to carry out a pre-Olympics project to improve their slalom kayak teams apparel. Application engineer Sbastien Dubois flew to the AIS and helped scan Jessicas lower body while in paddling position as well as her kayak, so to develop a customized seat that would perfectly fit her body and racing position. Did that seat make a difference and help boost Jessicas already amazing talent and power? Well, we certainly hope so.
Against all odds and across the Atlantic ocean
Aboard Creaforms sponsored Dfi-Saint-Malo Agglo Formula 1 trimaran was Creaforms founding president and CTO, Charles Mony. So we take great pride in the sailboats second rank after fighting an epic battle and an exhilarating finish against its closest rival, Vers un Monde sans Sida. Just after docking the trimaran, Gilles Lamir said: The finish was incredible. I just couldnt believe that we would get 2nd place after so many ups and downs. At some point, we were 200 miles behind Vers un Monde sans Sida, and we also faced fierce winds that were blowing the boat at 50-knot. All in all, this race was no piece of cake, and it does feel like we are champions today. What I like the most is to share my love for the sea and today is just over the top for me.
