Merrick Completes High Fidelity Mapping for the University of California Riverside

Aurora, CO December 2, 2011 Merrick & Companys geospatial and surveying business unit was retained for a third time since 2006, by the University of California Riverside (UCR), to collect and process high density light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data and high resolution digital aerial imagery as well as topographic mapping and building wire frame updates for a 5.43 square mile area encompassing the UCR campus.

Merrick utilized a helicopter-borne suite of sensors to collect LiDAR data at a 20 point per square meter density and color digital imagery at a pixel resolution of .25 as an update to UCRs existing GIS databases. The LiDAR data provided a base for the development of new 1 contours campus wide. UCR will use the data Merrick collected for planning, engineering and development purposes. Having worked with the Universitys Capital Resource Management group in the past, Merricks knowledge of UCRs control network, coordinate system, tile structure and database formats ensured meeting their needs.

Merrick & Company, an $125 million geospatial, engineering, architecture, design-build, and surveying firm, serves domestic and international clients by providing geospatial technologies, products, and services for the sustainable infrastructure, energy, and national security markets.
