Quantapoint Signs Reseller and Distribution Agreement with FARO

Strategic Partnership Makes Quantapoint Software and Laser Scanning Work Processes and Technology Available to FARO Customers

HOUSTON, TX (March 31, 2011) Quantapoint (http://www.quantapoint.com) provider of 3D Digital Facility technology and software that improves safety and decision-making for building, managing and upgrading facility assets today announced a non-exclusive reseller and distribution agreement with FARO (http://www.faro.com). The partnership gives FAROs laser scanner customers access to the industry’s leading solution for creating a high-resolution Digital Facility that can be accessed directly, within CAD packages or integrated with facility, operations or building information. This new offering will help FARO users more easily capture and register the information using patented work processes as well as improve its usability and usefulness by providing award-winning high-definition Laser Models and Laser Images.

Too often companies run into issues with registering the laser data network or using the data directly or for remodeling due to the poor visual quality, said Eric Hoffman, Quantapoints Founder. Over more than 15 years and 1,500 laser scanning projects, Quantapoint has developed a number of revolutionary techniques and technologies that address these problems and others. FARO has become the leading innovator of scanning hardware which is driving the adoption of laser scanning, so we have partnered with them to release our software so that other companies can now benefit from our experience and extract the greatest value possible from their investment in laser scanning.

The agreement allows Faro to directly distribute and resell the following Quantapoint software:
QuantaScan: Capture and register laser data using Faro laser scanners to directly create a Digital Facility.
Data Conversion Utility: Convert previously captured and registered laser data from Faro FWS, Leica PTX and PTC, ASTM E57 and other open formats to a Digital Facility.
PRISM 3D: Directly access the Digital Facility and optionally import CAD models to view with and clash against one another and the Digital Facility for design reviews.
PRISM 3D Explorer: Free viewer to access and measure Laser Images with the option to convert to full PRISM 3D at any time.
QuantaCAD for Architecture: Access the Digital Facility within Revit and AutoCAD.
QuantaCAD for Plant 3D: Access the Digital Facility within AutoCAD Plant 3D and AutoCAD.
QuantaCAD Complete: Access the Digital Facility within all supported design and review software, including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoPlant, AVEVA Review, CADWorx, Microstation V8 XM, PDMS, PDS, Plant 3D, Revit, SmartPlant Review, SmartPlant 3D and more.

About the Digital Facility
The Digital Facility format converts point clouds into a high-definition 3D representation of a refinery, building or other structure that is composed of high-resolution Laser Images and high-definition Laser Models.

Quantapoint Laser Images are photo-realistic, panoramic, and fully measurable images of laser scans from individual laser scanner locations (scanner-centric). Because Laser Images are 360-degree images, they may be panned and zoomed like virtual reality programs to view the surrounding area. Laser Images are ideal for virtual site visits due to their high resolution.

Laser Models winner of both an R&D 100 award and a FIATECH CETI award as a significant advancement are a unique Quantapoint technology that integrates all laser scan data to provide detailed, high-definition 3D solid models of a facility. Laser Models are visually clear and include fine details, unlike older point cloud technology whose sparse measurements make it difficult to visualize or understand the facility and more likely to miss critical design details. Laser Models provide more complete information for more complete designs.
