It was just a matter of time before we one of the most important world heritage sites was laser scanned. This time it is Stonehenge where the BBC reports that English Heritage is funding the detailed survey. The last time the site was surveyed was in 1993 when they used photography with an accuracy of about 2 cm.
This new survey will capture a lot more information on the subtleties of the monument and its surrounding landscape, said Paul Bryan, head of geospatial surveys at English Heritage. Plans are in the early stages for a new visitor center at the site.
That is one place that I would really like to visit.
