Leica Geosystems announces delivery of the second ALS50-II LiDAR system to ESTEIO in Brazil

(Norcross, Ga., 29 April 2008) ESTEIO increases its LiDAR capacity with a second ALS50-II w. MPiA

ESTEIO Engenharia e Aerolevantamentos S.A., a leading mapping and engineering company located in Curitiba Brazil, has taken delivery of its second ALS50-II from Leica Geosystems with MPiA (Multi-Pulse in the Air) capability.

Building on the success experienced with the first ALS50-II, ESTEIO is now increasing its LiDAR capacity with the purchase of a second unit. We are pleased to provide ESTEIO with this key technology. said Marco Antonio Carvalho, director of Wild Comercial, Leica Geosystems distributor in Brazil.

Valther Xavier Aguiar, technical director of ESTEIO, said, The demand for LiDAR mapping with higher pulse rate and flight height drove us to acquire the third sensor. This higher pulse rate has enabled us to produce not only altimmetric mapping, but also planimmetric mapping for specific applications in areas with adverse meteorological conditions such as those of dense forests in the Amazon region and the like, which impairs photo flights.

Guillermo M. Gallo, sensor sales manager for Latin America, commented,Just 18 months Ago ESTEIO introduced two state-of-the-art digital sensors to the Brazilian market. Its commitment to remain at the forefront of this technology has brought ESTEIO to substantially increase its LiDAR capability and, at the same time, implement the latest MPiA (Multi-Pulse in the Air) technology to respond to the market demand. We look forward to continuing this successful business relationship with ESTEIO.
