Optech announces enhanced functionality for ILRIS with Applied Imagerys Quick Terrain Modeler

Toronto, Canada, March 8, 2007 – Optech Incorporateds Industrial & 3D Imaging Division and Applied Imagery announces the release of Version 6.0.0 Quick Terrain Modeler software.

In an ongoing strategic partnership, Optech will continue to provide Applied Imagerys Quick Terrain Modeler Software with Automated Alignment functionality as a standard tool in Optechs line of Intelligent Laser Ranging and Imaging Systems (ILRIS) at no additional cost.Quick Terrain Modeler Scan Alignment enhancements include:
Scanner Origin Tracking:Create and export the ILRIS position for use later during the georegistration process.Users frequently measure the origin of each scan with a GPS and use these points to georegister the aligned scans.
Georegistration:After performing ILRIS scan alignment, users can import georeference points from an ASCII File and correlate them to points in the scans. Quick Terrain Modeler will transform the point clouds from project/plant coordinates to real world coordinates.
Stationary Scan Selection:Select a specific scan by name to hold stationary, therefore, all aligned scans will be automatically transformed to the scan coordinates of the stationary scan.
Merge Sessions:Link multiple sets of pre-aligned ILRIS scans.Align individual scans (e.g., from the ILRIS 36D Pan/Tilt Base), save as a session, then merge additional multiple sessions.
Auto Alignment for Multiple Regions of Interest:Auto-align scans from multiple regions of interest.
Resizable Preview Windows:Make preview windows much larger for easier and more precise anchor placement.
The versatility provided in producing automatically aligned georeferenced point clouds will greatly increase the portability of ILRIS data into third-party, three dimensional processing applications.
