GITA Conference 28 Returns to Denver

Mark your calendar… March 6-9, 2005. the venue; The Colorado Convention Center, Denver, Colorado.

Afterseveral years on the road, the annual GITA Conference will return to GITA’s backyard in Denver, Colorado. After travelling to San Diego, Tampa,San Antonio, and Seattle the conference is slated to take place next spring in Denver, Colorado.

The theme of Conference 28 is "Crossing Boundaries", which, according to conference chair Vince Rosales (Idea Integration), is about "expanding GITA’s industry focus and experience beyond our traditional legacy and allowing our community to benefit from a more global viewpoint."

In addressing the theme of crossing boudaries, attendees can expect the following topics to be addressed in papers and educational sessions:

  • data acquisition and maintenance
  • web applications
  • people issues
  • municipal applications
  • critical infrastructure protection
  • mobile applications
  • operational management
  • technology directions
  • system architecture
  • system integration
  • work and asset management
  • project management
  • customer focus
  • marketing and demographics
  • regulatory issues
  • planning, design, and engineering
  • ROI

As a reminder, all speakers must register for the conference and pay their fees. Speakers who submit their papers by November 8, 2004, will receive a $200 speaker discount on full-conference registration. GITA encourages abstract submissions from both the user and vendor communities, but is particularly interested in presentations from industry users. Seminars… once again, GITA will be producing a series of half-day seminars and they are open to your suggestions. Seminar recommendations can be submitted to education@gita.org and should include a title, 200 word abstract, one page seminar outline, and speaker recommendations.

Should I attend GITA?

Anyone who is interested in using geospatial information technologies is invited to attend. Discussion topics involve geographic information systems (GIS), information technology (IT), mobile and field computing, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), network operations management, work management systems, enterprise application integration, critical infrastructure protection, and other related technologies.
